An interesting fact:

Google’s recently released algorithm called Panda, which created enormous hype on the internet, ‘only’ affected about 12% of the searches.

BUT

Google’s latest update, the so-called Freshness Algorithm or Freshness Update, will affect roughly 35% of the searches!

Freshness Algorithm - Google Update

Google's Freshness Algorithm

Though I love Google but I must say, more often than not it sucks.

Yesterday, I entered “latest trends in blogging” as key-phrase in Google’s search bar and among the top results was a post from Problogger, which was published back in 2008 – that’s anything but ‘latest’.

Thanks to the freshness algorithm, all that is going to change now!

Google is great, yet not perfect. So they are always striving for perfection. It’s believed that they make more than 400 amendments in their algorithms every month.

The freshness algorithm is actually a major step in Google’s struggle: Caffeine Web Indexing System, to track the freshness of the content.

And that really is good news for Bloggers and Freelance Writers i.e. Me and You :-)

For bloggers, it simply means their life has become easier: the more frequently you post, the better PageRank you will be awarded. After this update, blogs will get even more ‘juice’ than that static webpages.

But also remember, if you don’t post frequently, you will suffer… MORE.

I did not publish anything before the last post: An Invaluable Customer Acquisition Lesson, for nearly two weeks and my blog was thrashed from Page 2 two Page 4 :(

If you are a freelance writer, it’s a great opportunity to secure more freelance writing gigs - right NOW!

Just contact your previous clients, send them this link to Google’s post and offer them a monthly or weekly package of updates for their website.

You will surely make a mark as a writer who keeps up with the latest trends and can produce hot content!
